The research interests of the Bagchi group lie at the intersection of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science. We seek to understand molecular organization and dynamics in functional organic materials. To study molecular packing and dynamics, we use X-ray scattering, polarized optical microscopy, and dichroism spectroscopy. Material systems of interest include 1) semiconducting organic glasses, 2) pharmaceutical solids, and 3) photonic liquid crystals. Understanding functional organic materials at the molecular level is key to improving their applicability for healthcare and sustainability applications.
